GADJAH MADA UNIVERSITY
Located in Yogyakarta, the University comprises 18 faculties with 63 undergraduate programs, 52 graduate programs, 16 diploma and several non-degree programs, over 2,000 faculty members, and over 1,500 administrative and support staff. The University of Gadjah Mada was officially founded on 19 December 1949.
In order to facilitate the education, the university today houses 19 distinguished research centers, 5 inter-university centers and 10 supporting services, such as, laboratories, libraries, a language training center, a university press, agricultural experiment stations and a computer center. Because of its concern with community development, the university also provides 6 community centers.
The academic year extends from September to August each year and consists of two semesters, each lasting for 16 weeks. The first semester starts on September and ends on January while the second semester is from February to July.
