THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY
Thammasat University, the second oldest in Thailand, was established on 27 June 1934 and was then named "Thammasat Lae Karn Muang" or "The University of Moral Science and Politics".
Having started out as a law school, the University has gradually expanded to offer courses in Social Sciences, Humanities and Sciences with the aim to provide higher education in the fields that are pertinent to social need and to promote research and Thai culture. Today, the University has fifteen faculties, four institutes and a number of graduate programs. The University has two campuses; the main campus is located in Phra-chan, Bangkok and the other in Rangsit, Patumtani Province.
The academic year of Thammasat University is divided into two 16-week semesters. The first semester is from the second week of June to the end of September, and the second semester begins in the second week of November until the end of February. Summer courses are also offered during the months of March and May, with minimum duration of 6 weeks.
