SEASREP at the 12th Local Historical Committees Network General Assembly

At the 12th Local Historical Committees Network (LHCN) General Assembly and the 2025 National Conference on Local History and Heritage in Guiuan, Eastern Samar on 27 August 2025, Dr. Maria Serena Diokno, SEASREP Executive Director and former NHCP Chairperson, together with Dr. Maitrii Aung-Thwin (National University of Singapore), presented SEASREP’s Project CLASP (Community of Local Affiliates Studying the Past). The General Assembly, hosted by the Municipal Government of Guiuan and the Eastern Samar State University in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, convened delegates and speakers to celebrate and explore the rich local heritage of Guiuan, while marking the culmination of the August History Month celebrations. During their presentation, Dr. Diokno and Dr. Maitrii highlighted SEASREP’s initiatives in public Southeast Asian studies and public history, emphasizing the House Museums project and efforts to connect with local historical and heritage societies across the Philippines. They also introduced the draft online map of local historical societies, showcasing SEASREP’s work in fostering networks and collaborative resources for heritage preservation and community engagement.
Dr. Diokno and Dr. Aung-Thwin also attended the National Conference on Local History and Heritage held on 28-29 August 2025.
